2015 Syrah

2015 Syrah
Silver Medal Winner

SILVER ~ 2018 British Columbia Lieutenant Governor's Wine Awards

The 2015 Syrah red wine is sourced from our east-facing block in Osoyoos, it has aromas of crushed dried herbs, violet, blueberry and cigar box. On the mouth, the tannins are rich and ripe, with blueberry and plum notes overlaid with dried tobacco, lean bacon and finishing with notes of white pepper.

Our 2015 Syrah red wine is darker than Cabernet Sauvignon and contains high amounts of health-invigorating antioxidants.

Enjoy the 2015 Syrah red wine with blue cheese burger, grilled meats, and roast vegetables.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Sourced from one of the best Syrah vineyard blocks in the Okanagan, this wine has been a consistent crowd favourite. The fruit has been sourced from steep East facing slopes which allow for warming in the mornings and cooling from shade in the afternoons when the Okanagan sun is hottest. With 2015 being a very hot year in Penticton, greater canopy growth allowed for extra shading on the fruit to protect the delicate floral aromas and red fruit flavours of this Syrah. Co-fermented with a small amount of Viognier to enhance the floral aromas and flavours.
Vineyard Notes
Region: West Bench Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley. Soil Type: Stony, silty loam. Age of Vines: 15 Years.
Production Notes
100% Syrah (co-fermented with a small amount of Viognier)
Winemaker Notes
My preference as winemaker is to pick Syrah in the earlier ripening expression with red fruit and white pepper, but 2015 was a much hotter year so the fruit expression for tannin phenological ripeness was much more pronounced in black fruit notes. More black pepper than white pepper, this wine was aged in newer 100% oak for 8 months to match the riper fruit expression, and then aged in bottle for an additional 3 years to fully develop the flavours and tannins.
Food Pairing Notes
Enjoy this wine paired with grilled meats and roast vegetables.
